MiPi Span Event Setup



1.     Setting Up the Event



A.    The event “Name” and the “Description” are required.

B.    Choose the color that you would like this event to display as on the MiPi chart.

C.     Ensure that the “Event Type” is TimeSpan.

D.    The “Expected Cycle Time”, “Lower Bound”, “Upper Bound”, and “Ignore Extremes” lower and upper are not required but are used to adjust the MiPi chart if you have extreme outlier data points.


                  



2.     Single Switch Setup


A.    To use this configuration, you must be able to hold the switch in its actuated position for the duration of the span.

B.    This configuration can be used with either a Normally Opened switch or a Normally Closed switch.

a.     Select the same MiPi for both the Start Device and the End Device.

b.     Select the same switch number for both the Start Switch and End Switch.

c.     When setting up a single switch span with a Normally Opened switch:

1.     Select Closed for the Start Position.

2.     Select Open for the End Position.


                                          


d.     When setting up a single switch span with a Normally Closed switch:

1.     Select Open for the Start Position.

2.     Select Closed for the End Position.


                                          


 

 


3.     Two Switch Setup


A.    This configuration is used when the switch cannot be held in the actuated position for the duration of the span.

B.    This configuration can also be used with either a Normally Opened or a Normally Closed switch.

C.     Start Switch:

a.     Select the MiPi that the start switch is connected to for the Start Device. (Both switches do not need to be connected to the same MiPi.)

b.     Select the switch number that the Start Switch is connected to.

c.     If the start switch is Normally Opened:

1.     Select Closed for the Start Position.

                                                


d.     If the start switch is Normally Closed:

1.     Select Open for the Start Position.

                                                

D.    End Switch:

a.     Select the MiPi that the end switch is connected to for the End Device
(Both switches do not need to be connected to the same MiPi.)

b.     Select the switch number that the End Switch is connected to.

c.     If the end switch is Normally Opened:

1.     Select Open for the End Position.


d.     If the end switch is Normally Closed:

1.     Select Closed for the End Position.
